I feed my dogs raw minced meat, thawed out to room temp. (bowls in stands)
My adult dogs have one meal daily, minimum of 1lb/454g meat + small cup of mixer + chopped greens.
I blanch the greens (broccoli, spinach, spring greens, sprouts, peas, etc.) in a little unsalted water,
then use that water to wet the mixer, so that even water soluabble vitamins are not lost.
(mixer doesn't swell like complete) Greens must be chopped finely - food processor is best.
Parsley and nettles are also full of important minerals; I add them often, always finely chopped.
BEEF with greens or herbs - MONDAY & THURSDAY
CHICKEN with necks/wings - TUESDAY & FRIDAY
TRIPE with tripe chunks & greens - WEDNESDAY & SATURDAY
PILCHARDS in tomato sauce (fish is a cooling food too, with Omega3 oils) on SUNDAYS.
LIVER braised (sealed, not cooked thru) with plenty of chopped garlic & parsley fed occasionally.
DRIED TRIPE STIX are given as treats every morning; also cut into small bits for treats on walks.
LIVER BAKED with garlic salt ( 120c for 2-3 hours, depends on quantity) makes excellent show bait!
BIG BEEF BONES keep my youngsters busy for days, keeping teeth healthy too.
*I cook with GARLIC regularly; it can be prepared for easy use by peeling 2 - 3 bulbs and chopping
in processor with a drizzle of olive oil to keep moist. Keep refrigerated in sealed container!
Garlic is good for dogs' coats and prevents bad breath. Flees & worms hate it too...
Garlic powder for horses @ farm shops/big pet shops is a good alternative source (5ml per dog).
RAW EGGS, brown bread and milk is BEAUJOLAIS' favourite treat!
PASTA is a good filler, if a dog needs hi-energy food or is a lean type like my WHISKY was.
COOKED RICE is a grain, but a "cool" food and very useful for convalessing dogs.
HONEY is such a pure food, very good for coughs & sneezes; a tsp of honey is a great tonic.
All my dogs have the same natural diet, from 5 weeks of age to their dying days...
Pups from 8 weeks to 16 weeks have 4 meals per day; I feed at 8am, 12pm, 4pm, 8pm.
Youngsters up to 6 months have 3 meals per day : I feed mine at 8am, 2pm, 8pm.
Between 6 and 12months of age mine are on 2 meals a day ; 8am & 8pm.
All my dogs are individuals and this is a basic guide, I do prefer pups to have a little "puupy fat"
and for my veterans (+7 yrs ) to have no strain on heart or hip joints by being overweight, i.e.
I do like to see the last rib or feel their ribs. In everything there must be a balance!
